Megyn Kelly lampooned lawmakers for the second day in a row Friday, demanding that the country’s representatives do something about the gun violence afflicting the country.
“Those lost deserve to have something done,” she said during week’s last episode of “Megyn Kelly Today.”.
“Not just the absurd lip service usually paid by politicians in the wake of these tragedies. Not this time. Mental health reform, gun reform, school security, all of it. Everything must be on the table if we are actually sorry about what happened in Parkland.”
Kelly’s stirring invective comes after a 19-year-old psychopath shot up a Florida high school, killing 17 innocent people. The frequency of school shootings has horrified the nation. Kelly is far from the only one clamoring for gun control.
“We all know what’s about to happen right now, don’t we?” she said Thursday, the day after the attack.
“We’re going to say how sorry and shocked and sad we are and then we’re going to move on without doing anything. And then we’ll express how sorry and shocked and sad we are at the next one. And the one after that.”
The fiery speech marked a change from Kelly’s usually limp demeanor. She tried to tone herself down to host her morning show and ended up effacing any spark of personality. This week has seen a return of what made her famous at Fox News.
“Does anyone really think that we’re going to do anything after these mass murders?” Kelly asked.
“I don’t. I don’t believe that. I don’t believe in a single one of these politicians. I don’t believe any of them have the courage it takes to push through reform. Why? Because history.”
Kelly’s audience reacted enthusiastically to her monologues two days in a row. Gun control advocates are gaining influence.
