Gay US Olympian Refusing To Meet With Mike Pence Due To His Stance On LGBT Issues

Even more than money these days, there’s another form of currency that’s seen as nearly as valuable. Both consciously and unconsciously folks try to acquire it, and in the social media, 24/7 news cycle era, it’s never been easier to get.

Earning social capital by signaling how self-righteous/open-minded one is has been the rage for years, but there’s an even more popular method of getting likes and retweets–trashing the president or conservatives in general. Trump and his supporters are constant targets for people looking for attention, and ahead of the Winter Olympics, one participant took the opportunity to turn the spotlight on himself ahead of schedule.

As reported at the Daily Mail, openly gay ice skate Adam Rippon refused to meet with Mike Pence after he was offered a private meeting with the vice president, opting instead to trash him over his stance on LGBT!+-$*&# issues.

Last month, Rippon trashed Pence over his supposed support of gay conversion therapy, and being concerned with his thoughts on the matter, Pence offered to meet with him to discuss the issues. Predictably, Rippon rebuffed the offer.

I’m trying to train for the biggest competition of my life. I’m not trying to pick a fight with the Vice President of the United States,” he said.

While speaking with USA Today Sports last month, the athlete criticized Pence’s stance on the LGBT community. Rippon also had harsh words for Pence’s support of Trump after the president supposedly made derogatory comments about foreigners and African countries.

“I don’t think he has a real concept of reality,” Rippon said. “To stand by some of the things that Donald Trump has said and for Mike Pence to say he’s a devout Christian man is completely contradictory. If he’s OK with what’s being said about people and Americans and foreigners and about different countries that are being called ‘sh**holes’, I think he should really go to church.

He also slammed Pence’s  involvement in the 2018 Winter Olympics. Pence has been tasked with leading the official US delegation to the Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

If it were before my event, I would absolutely not go out of my way to meet somebody who I felt has gone out of their way to not only show that they aren’t a friend of a gay person but that they think they’re sick,” he said. “I wouldn’t go out of my way to meet somebody like that.”

It seems that the only hateful person her is Rippon. But for leftists, their fragile brains can’t understand that a person can fundamentally disagree over contentious issues like gay marriage and not hate people over it. But saying one supports traditional marriage is tantamount to saying you want to burn gays at the stake. The only people being burned at the stake these days are Christians, as they’re being driven to the fringes of society.

It’s amusing, how leftists act like Christians hate and discriminate against gays when all the evidence points to the reverse, despite the fact that believers make up an astronomically higher percentage of the population than do homosexuals. If anything, it’s more acceptable to be gay than it is to be a Christian in the current year. Yet here we are, seeing another high-profile gay person being showered with praise over his rebuke of the “bigot” Mike Pence. Brave, Adam, very brave indeed.
