Editorial Standards

These are the standards this site holds itself to, and what to do when we fall short of them.

The archive is preserved, not revised

Articles published between 2015 and 2018 appear here as they originally ran. We do not silently edit old pieces to improve their accuracy in hindsight, and we do not re-date them to make them look current.

This is a deliberate choice, and it cuts both ways. Some of this commentary has aged well. Some has not. Predictions that proved wrong stay up with their original dates attached, because an archive that only preserves the correct calls isn’t an archive.

Context, where it’s needed

Every article is labelled with its true original publication date, and the site is marked as an archive throughout. A reader should never be in doubt about when something was written.

Where an article’s central claim has since been definitively settled, we may add a clearly-marked editor’s note at the top. Notes are added; the original text is not removed.

Sourcing

Where an article relies on outside reporting, the original source is linked. Links to other outlets are not endorsements of those outlets. Some links in older pieces point to sites that have since gone offline — where a source has disappeared, the link is left as a matter of record.

Commentary is labelled as commentary. Where a writer is arguing a case rather than reporting a fact, the piece should read that way, and we expect readers to hold us to it when it doesn’t.

Corrections

If something here is factually wrong, we want to know and we will fix it.

  • Send the article URL and the specific claim at issue through our contact page.
  • Factual errors are corrected on the article itself, with a dated correction note appended. We don’t make quiet edits.
  • Disagreement with an argument isn’t a correction, and we’ll say so plainly — but we’ll still read what you send.

Ownership and funding

Yes I’m Right is independently owned. It is not funded, directed, or edited by any political party, campaign, candidate, or PAC.

Our writers

Bylines on this site are the writers who filed the original pieces. Where a writer provided a biography, it appears on their page. Where they did not, we say so rather than inventing one.
