Trump’s emergence on the political stage has greatly benefited the left-wing news media. The pathetic liberal news networks were struggling to find viewers before he burst onto the scene, but he provided them and their cult-like followers with a much needed enemy and target for their irrational hatred hatred for all things conservative.
Surprisingly, the loser in all this has been the long-time dominator of cable news, Fox News. It started with the departure of the legendary Bill O’Reilly, who was forced out after a flurry of sexual harassment claims. O’Reilly destroyed the competition for decades, and while his replacements have proven capable, things haven’t been the same at the network since he left. Which may be why the embargo on his appearance has been lifted, as he’s set to promote his new book on Sean Hannity’s show Tuesday night.
As reported at the New York Daily News, the disgraced former host will discuss his new book, “Killing England,” with Hannity on Tuesday, marking his return to the cable news giant.
Hannity has a very popular radio show during the daytime, and during a recent discussion with O’Reilly, he asked: “Do you want to come back? I think you should come back.”
O’Reilly sort of laughed it off and said he was enjoying his time relaxing on the beach. But the seed was planted. A day later, while appearing on NBC News, O’Reilly was fiercely defended himself saying he “never mistreated anyone under my watch over 42 years.”
“This was a hit job,” O’Reilly said. “A political and financial hit job.” It’s hard to know what the truth is in the scandals surrounding him. False accusations are certainly a problem when it comes to sexual harassment, especially when it comes to famous/powerful men and when folks are jockeying to improve their careers. But the reality is, we just don’t know.
Regardless of the truth, O’Reilly has paid for his supposed crimes, to the tune of $13 million to various accusers. Will this appearance lead to improved relations with the network? Who knows. But one thing is for sure, Fox News is no longer the unstoppable force is once was.
