Capitol Hill is buzzing ahead of Trump’s first State of the Union speech Tuesday. After facing unprecedented media criticism and internal attempts to sabotage his presidency, his speech is certain to stir up controversy and elicit the expected hatred and propaganda from the Left.
For the folks attending, it’s sure to be a once in a lifetime event, as you must be invited and receive a proverbial golden ticket to get in. However, those lucky enough to receive one may have noticed something strange upon close examination.
As reported by the Daily Mail, an incredibly minor gaffer occurred ahead of Tuesday’s spectacle, that being a typo was found on the distributed tickets.
Photos of the spelling error have emerged online, with the offending phrase being spelled ‘State of the Uniom’ instead of ‘State of the Union.’ The tickets are distributed by the Office of the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper, which are given to spouses and guests of members of Congress for seats throughout the gallery.
While it’s unknown just how many tickets were sent out before the typo was noticed, it seems that all affected tickets have already been reprinted and are being sent back out.
A spokesman for the House Sergeant in Arms office told reporters that the typo wasn’t affecting their dissemination of the tickets and that all invited guests will receive them on time.
Several members of Congress took to Twitter to poke fun at the error. Rep Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), tweeted a picture of the ticket and proceeded to pettily insult Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.
“Just received my ticket for the State of the Union. Looks like @BetsyDeVosEd was in charge of spell checking… #SOTUniom:“ he tweeted. Talk about a sad and pathetic attempt to be funny.
On a much lighter note, GOP Senator Marco Rubio wrote: “Looking forward to tomorrow’s State of the Uniom.“
Rep Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) joked: “This will be the last year I go to a scalper for tickets to the “State of the Uniom”. #SOTU.”
Trump will be hitting on a wide range of topics Tuesday night, and considering the amount of insanity that’s surrounded his presidency, it’s sure to be quite entertaining by State of the Union standards.
