In light of the deluge of sexual harassment claims hitting Hollywood and DC, everyone’s finally being exposed to the truth conservatives have been preaching for decades–that leftists are nothing but a bunch of hypocritical opportunists.
They spend a lot of time propping themselves up as the protectors of women and their rights, while also accusing conservatives of being misogynists. But behind closed doors, it seems that those vehemently expressed views hold no sway. With leftist Al Franken already under fire for his past sexual harassment, another long-time Democratic congressman has been found out.
As reported at the Daily caller, the latest Democrat to join the ranks of harassers is the high ranking Michigan Rep. John Conyers, who apparently used taxpayer money to pay off one of his accusers.
According to a new report, Conyers settled a wrongful dismissal complaint about more than $27,000 in taxpayer funding after he supposedly fired a staffer because she wouldn’t “succumb to [his] sexual advances.”
According to sworn affidavits signed by four former staffers, Conyers was a serial sexual harasser who routinely preyed upon the female members of his staff.
One former female employee filed a complaint with the Congressional Office Of Compliance in 2014, claiming she was fired for rebuffing Conyers’ sexual advances. This employee is the one that received a $27,111 settlement in 2015 in exchange for a confidentiality agreement. As part of the agreement, the congressman maintained his innocence and didn’t admit any fault.
“In her complaint, the former employee said Conyers repeatedly asked her for sexual favors and often asked her to join him in a hotel room. On one occasion, she alleges that Conyers asked her to work out of his room for the evening, but when she arrived the congressman started talking about his sexual desires,” BuzzFeed reported.
“She alleged he then told her she needed to ‘touch it,’ in reference to his penis, or find him a woman who would meet his sexual demands.”
In the affidavit, the staffers offer up a disgusting picture of what life was like working under the degenerate. “Rep. Conyers strongly postulated that the performing of personal service or favors would be looked upon favorably and lead to salary increases or promotions,” one former employee said.
On top of preying upon his staff, he would also use tax money to shuttle in women with whom he had sexual relationships.
“One of my duties while working for Rep. Conyers was to keep a list of women that I assumed he was having affairs with and call them at his request and, if necessary, have them flown in using Congressional resources,” one affidavit states. Another staffer said that Conyers, who’s the longest-serving congressman, used taxpayer funds to fly women into see him.
These shocking revelations come on the heels of reports that the Congressional Office Of Compliance spent $17 million of taxpayer funding on harassment settlements.
Considering what these politicians say and do in public, it’s hardly surprising to find out they do this kind of stuff in private. Many of them think they’re above the law, and that they can get away with anything due to their status. And for the most part, they’re right. However, it looks like the Weinstein scandal obliterated the dam that was holding back folks from speaking out about sexual harassment, as we’ve seen case after case emerge in in recent months.
It’s amusing to think that there are guilty people in Congress shaking in their boots right now, afraid they’ll be the next pervert exposed. One thing’s for sure, Conyers certainly won’t be the last domino to fall.
