When President Trump announced that Jeff Sessions would be his Attorney General, the pick seemed like a perfect one. Sessions has long been a solid conservative and expressed a legitimate desire to support Trump’s overhaul of our broken immigration system.
It seemed like a match made in heaven at first, but recent months have seen the relationship between the president and Sessions go sour, as reports are that Trump’s upset with Sessions for not going after Hillary Clinton. The same sentiment is shared by many conservatives, who were promised that the old crone would finally be brought to justice. Earlier this month, one of those conservatives got to talk with the president and expressed her anger over the lack of a new investigation into Hillary’s corruption.
As reported at the Hill, during a private meeting with Trump, Fox News host Jeanine Pirro apparently ripped Sessions for his refusal to appoint a special prosecutor to probe former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over the media-ignored Uranium One deal.
A New York Times report on Tuesday said that when Pirro met with Trump earlier this month, she “excoriated” Sessions for not investigating Clinton. Pirro has been consistently bashing AG Sessions on her Fox News show “Justice with Judge Jeanine,” and on any other program she’s been on.
The Clinton crime in question is the 2016 deal that allowed a Russian nuclear agency to purchase Uranium One, a Canadian company that owns access to uranium in the US. This has given Russia access to 20 percent of America’s total production capacity of uranium.
Conservatives have pointed out that several of the investors involved donated millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation. Former President Bill Clinton also received a $500,000 speaking fee in Russia and reportedly met with Vladimir Putin around the time of the deal. Given the Clinton’s incredibly transparent pay-to-play schemes with foreign governments and entities over the years, made possible with their high-level government access and “charity foundation,” the deal is extremely shady.
“Jeff Sessions needs to follow his prosecutorial instincts and open a federal criminal investigation into the actions of Hillary Rodham Clinton and impanel a grand jury immediately,” Pirro said in a September episode of her show. “This woman should not get a free pass because she lost an election. Her reign was one of bold, brazen in your face pay-to-play corruption.”
But Pirro hasn’t only called for an investigation into Clinton. She’s also called for an inquiry into former FBI Director James Comey, as new evidence proves he was already writing a letter exonerating Clinton from any wrongdoing months before the investigation into her private email server was concluded.
In a statement, Pirro has proudly confirmed the Times report that she criticized Sessions in her meeting with Trump.
“Everything I said to President Trump is exactly what I’ve vocalized on my show, ‘Justice with Jeanine,'” she told the newspaper.
Her criticisms of Sessions are entirely warranted. There’s no reason for him not to go after Clinton considering the litany of evidence out there concerning her family’s mafia-like dealings. Why he hasn’t launched an investigation is anyone’s guess at this point, as there’s nothing stopping him.
One thing is for sure, Trump and many conservatives are growing impatient, as there’s been a stunning like of action from the Justice Department. Republicans need to start wielding the power America handed them last election, or they’ll quickly find themselves powerless once more.
