Don Jr. Is Encouraging His Dad To Stand Firm On Second Amendment Rights

February 20, 2018 by Caleb Marius

The mass shooting in Florida is having a profound impact on President Trump and the Republican Party. While it’s been standard for a decent amount of GOPers to spout some of the Left’s talking points in the aftermath of these tragedies, that hasn’t been the case when it comes to Trump.

However, it seems that the president is legitimately considering movement in the leftward direction when it comes to guns, which should have every conservative worried. Even under Obama, serious gun control legislation wasn’t passed, so for it to occur under a Republican administration would be a disaster. But there is hope that the president won’t tighten restrictions on guns, as his very own son is lobbying him not to bow to pressure of the left-wing propaganda and fear-mongering.

As reported at the Daily Beast, Donald Trump Jr. is reportedly trying to convince his father that stricter gun control measures aren’t the answer and that his best course of action would be to stand strong with the Second Amendment.

Reports indicate that Trump has commanded his aides to survey guests at his resort at Mar-a-Lago about what to do about gun control. The move is rather surprising considering how strong he’s stood against leftist pearl-clutching in the past.

Apparently, some friends have urged Trump to adopt a more moderate approach to gun control, or even for the revival of an assault-weapons ban, which is objectively absurd if one actually looks at statistics. But Trump Jr. has argued that even hinting at more restrictions cuts against the policies and attitude that got his father elected in the first place.

What’s making the situation more complicated is how actively the students of the school that suffered the shooting are lobbying for “something” to be done. The media’s gleefully propping up the students, giving them a platform to savage the president for not immediately supporting tougher gun laws.

The incredible amount of concern-trolling by the media is causing Trump to waver, and some of the comments coming from the White House are quite concerning for gun rights advocates.

“The president spoke to Senator [John] Cornyn on Friday about the bipartisan bill he and Sen. [Chris] Murphy introduced to improve Federal Compliance with Criminal Background Check Legislation,” press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote in a statement sent out on Monday morning. “While discussions are ongoing and revisions are being considered, the president is supportive of efforts to improve the federal background check system.”

While Trump has clearly not committed to anything, what’s so alarming about these statements is that the leftist clowns involved in these discussions are fierce anti-gun zealots who are already preparing to shift the goalposts further to the Left, just as they’ve done on immigration. Sen. Murphy, one of the Democrats involved, tweeted Monday that the bill by itself is hardly an “adequate response” to the mass shooting in Parkland.

Which should go without saying, considering this guy wants to disarm the populace entirely. It would be a disaster on multiple levels if Trump caves to this latest left-wing barrage of fact-less, purely emotional outrage. The Left will never be satisfied until the government holds the sole monopoly on guns, just as they’ll never be satisfied with any of Trump’s immigration proposals, as they want all illegals legalized and open borders to the third world.
Trump would be wise to head his son’s advice. Because his decision on this issue will have far-reaching effects on our sacred freedoms and his reelection prospects in 2020.
