There’s no end to the molehills that the left-wing media have tried to turn into Everest. No matter what Trump does, the propagandists manage to find ways to twist the narrative against the president, paying no mind to their blatant hypocrisy or double standards.
The most prominent anti-Trump narrative since he won the election has been the Russia collusion claims, which are still under investigation. It was rumored a while back, but a new report claims for certain that Trump was at one point planning on firing Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who’s been tasked with investigating the Russia claims. Of course, leftists act like such an action would be a tyrannical usurpation of power and proof of guilt, despite plenty of evidence proving that the who inquiry is a shame initiated by corrupt FBI personnel. While leftists have been worshiping Mueller, at least one Democrat has broken ranks with his party’s narrative over the witch hunt.
As reported at the New York Post, Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin poured cold water on a report that President Trump ordered the firing of Robert Mueller, but then backed off after the White House counsel threatened to resign by saying it’s just “New York talk.”
“That’s New York talk. I look at it strictly as the New York language that they have which is different than most other people,” the West Virginia lawmaker said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Asked to explain his remarks, Manchin, who’s running for re-election in a state that Trump won by 40 percentage points, said it’s because the president’s getting used to how the branches of government work.
“Here’s the thing, you have a person who’s the president of the United States that has been totally in control of his life, personally and his professional,” Manchin said. “He’s been very successful. He’s been able basically to either do things incentive-wise through checks, bonuses, money or organization or organization changes, things of this sort. He’s had total control.”
“Now all of a sudden he’s understanding there’s equal branches and there’s equal powers. But also there’s checks and balances. He’s having a hard time with that,” Manchin said.
The report claims that Trump only backed off on firing Mueller after White House counsel Don McGahn threatened to quit. Trump has denied the report, calling it fake news.
Had Mueller been fired, there’s no question the optics would have been terrible and the media been in a frenzy over such an opportunity to undermine the president. But Trump is well within his rights to remove him, as evidence has come to light showing that there’s been gross negligence across the board and a covert attempt by the FBI to smear the president. Meanwhile, no Russia connections of any consequence have been found.
From the start, it’s been clear that the investigation is nothing more than a bunch of whiny Obama/Clinton loyalists using their power and influence to damage Trump. But for now, the president is content to play along–for now.
