It’s a common political question these days, to ask what on earth is going on in California. The state has become a massive joke, taking it’s radical leftism to insane heights that include proudly making itself a sanctuary state and also wasting billions of dollars trying to fix its nation-leading poverty problem.
That state is so hopelessly mismanaged that recent years have seen movements to break it apart, so that various regions could govern themselves instead of suffering the lunacy of other areas. While this has largely been a pipe dream for some Californians, a new movement has been launched to bring the dissolution to fruition.
As reported at the New York Post, a new effort to split the state of California is underway, as a new proposal has been developed that would see the Golden State broken apart.
“New California” is just the latest proposal to break up the nation’s most populous state into two more manageable states.
Founders of the movement Robert Preston and Tom Reed read their own Declaration of Independence on Monday at a small ceremony in Marysville, California. They say California is “ungovernable” due to its high taxes.
Unlike many previous proposals that would create several new independent territories, the New America idea would simply split the state in two. Preston and Reed desire to work with the California state legislature and US Congress to get the idea off the ground. However, even though it’s a very good proposition, considering the dismal state of California, the leftists in control are very unlikely to let such a thing happen.
On their accompanying website, Reed and Preston write that California is “a failed state” and that “citizens of California are living under a tyrannical form of government that does not follow the California and U.S. Constitutions.” They cite insane taxes, the decline in affordable housing, education, pathetic business climate, and many other festering problems for why they want to divide the state.
“There’s something wrong when you have a rural county such as this one, and you go down to Orange County which is mostly urban, and it has the same set of problems, and it happens because of how the state is being governed and taxed,” Preston told CBS Sacramento.
There’s no question that California’s best years are far in the rear-view. From the top down, at every level, leftists control policy, and as a result, it’s become a hellhole that many folks are fleeing. Splitting the state in two seems like a prudent idea, unfortunately, however, the nation probably isn’t so lucky as to see it happen.
