Some interesting revelations have come to light in the past week concerning the sexual harassment issue that’s still gripping the nation’s attention. While numerous leftists have already seen their Hollywood, media, and political careers go up in flames due to their inability to keep their hands to themselves, there’s yet another in trouble thanks to several incidents in the past and his employer’s response to them.
As reported at the Daily Caller, an MSNBC spokesman confirmed this weekend that the company made a separation-related payment to one of Chris Matthews’ employees after she accused him of sexual harassment. Apparently, the “Listen and Believe” doctrine wasn’t in effect then.
Two sources close to the situation told The Daily Caller that Matthews paid $40,000 to settle the issue with an assistant producer on his show, “Hardball with Chris Matthews,” in 1999 after she accused him of harassment.
However, a spokesperson from the looney-bin network MSNBC has disputed the claim, revealing that the network instead paid her far lower amount, which was part of a “severance” package.
The woman in question initially complained to executives at CNBC that Matthews made inappropriate comments and jokes about her while in the company of others.
The spokesperson from MSNBC that denied the large payout said the network investigated the allegations at the time, which resulted in Matthews receiving a formal reprimand. The key conclusions of their review were that while they agreed that his comments were inappropriate, they weren’t intended to be taken as propositions.
