The massive Hollywood scandal surrounding Harvey Weinstein’s predatory actions against women has the Left reeling. Media elites, politicians, and celebrities alike are all trying to figure out how to pretend they weren’t aware of his disgusting actions, even though they were an open secret.
Needless to say, liberals are being forced to explain their hypocrisy over the treatment of women, which is a huge issue for them. They’re always accusing Trump of lewd behavior, yet they’ve been sheltering a serial sexual harasser for years. In light of these revelations, a few liberals are actually criticizing their own side, saying that their silence over the Weinstein scandal is unacceptable considering their rhetoric on the issue.
As reported at the Daily Mail, one of those critics is Anthony Bourdain, a host on CNN. On Wednesday, Bourdain trashed Hillary Clinton after she did an interview with Fareed Zakaria, in which she self-righteously discussed the accusations against Weinstein.
“I was appalled. It was something that was just intolerable in every way,” Clinton said of Weinstein’s sexual improprieties against young women in the film industry.
“And, you know, like so many people who’ve come forward and spoken out, this was a different side of a person who I and many others had known in the past.”
That’s real rich coming from Clinton, whose husband is a serial rapist himself. Not only that, she and her Democratic comrades are all beholden to Weinstein’s campaign donations and media power, a relationship they’ve willingly accepted despite knowing the truth about his behavior for years.
For Bourdain, Clinton’s comments are too little too late, especially considering that his girlfriend, Asia Argento, claims Weinstein raped her.
“I have to say, Hillary’s interview with Fareed Zakaria was shameful in its deflection and it’s disingenuous,” wrote Bourdain.
“Know what Hillary Clinton is NOT? She’s not stupid. Or unsophisticated about the world. The Weinstein stories had been out there for years,” he added.
He did go on to praise Clinton a little in an embarrassing and slovenly way saying, “Secretary Clinton was one of the most intelligent, well prepared, well briefed politicians ever. So, yes. I’d hoped for a better response,” said Bourdain.
He later wrote: ‘This Weinstein story is deeply personal to me–and far far far more personal and painful to people I love and people I care about.”
While it’s unproven that Weinstein raped Argento, given his predatory history, it wouldn’t be surprising. Regardless, the last person who should be calling Weinstein’s actions disgusting is Hillary. For decades, she’s intimidated and destroyed a litany of women that were raped and abused by Bill for daring to speak out.
The silence from the Left on this issue is stunning. It seems that liberals can’t decide whether to speak out or not, as they’re afraid of having their own skeletons pulled from the closet and/or shown to be hypocrites. The thing is, they all are anyway. The way they fear-monger about Trump and his rhetoric about women, while doing nothing about the Hollywood elites sexual mistreatment of women, which has been an open secret for decades, seals the deal. Clinton should keep her mouth shut about this issue and do us all a favor by crawling back into the cave she slithered out from.
