The fallout from the Ted Cruz snub of Donald Trump continues. If you haven’t heard, at the Republican National Convention last night Ted Cruz spoke and refused to endorse Donald Trump for President of the United States even though he signed a pledge to do so. The crowd at the RNC was so perturbed by this, they booed him off the stage.
Now the rest of the party is lashing out at him, and we’re honestly not surprised. Cruz has spoken about party unity, and did so last night in his speech as well, yet he refused to endorse the party’s nominee. Cruz’s divisiveness struck a chord with Republican Congressman Peter King of New York had enough of Cruz’s rhetoric and absolutely unloaded on him in a quick interview with NBC News on the floor. Watch below. It’s a bloodbath!
“Today is the Ted Cruz I’ve know, unfortunately. He cannot be trusted. He’s not a true Republican, he’s not a true conservative, he’s totally self-centered. I never saw such outrage and anger on the floor as I saw toward Ted Cruz tonight, and he deserved every bit of it. He’s a total fraud.”
“It’s not so much his message we disagree with, it’s him as a human being and as a person. He disgraced himself, disgraced the party, and the party should never again consider him for office.”
OUCH! That’s a brutal truth that King just laid out there. What I personally am wondering is if this is the end of Ted Cruz’s political career. The backlash from Republicans on the whole has been enormous and swift after this Trump snub.
While these were King’s words, I have a feeling they will hold true throughout the vast majority of the Republican party. The coming months will tell us more about Cruz’s future, especially if Trump does win the election and becomes President. If that happens, it’s not looking good for ol’ Teddy.
