Hollywood’s rising comedian Amy Schumer has been in the news a lot lately, but not particularly in a good way. Schumer had her first big Netflix special, which was promptly removed after users were able to take in just how low her humor has sunk.
Schumer blames the alt right for trolling her special, but it looks like that’s not the only part of her career that might be tanking.
Via Deadline:
Amy Schumer won’t be doing the Barbie movie at Sony Pictures after all. The comic actress had been attached in December to star in a PG-rated live-action film based on the venerable Mattel doll. But the production plan ahead of the pic’s targeted June 2018 release date didn’t mesh with her schedule, so the two have parted ways.
“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” Schumer said in a statement today. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”
Scheduling conflicts . . . kinda sounds like she got uninvited to a party and she’s saying “well I didn’t want to come anyhow.” The comic actress had been contracted to start in December to star in a PG-rated live-action film based on the venerable Mattel doll.
Schumer seems to be trying to secure the place of Chelsea Handler 2.0, but what I think she’s forgetting is that a lot of people don’t like Handler, and we certainly don’t need 2 of them. I get it, gross humor is easy and makes for cheap laughs, but some of us out here in middle America still want some decency and decorum in our lives. And we certainly don’t need someone with as little class as Schumer portraying a classic children’s toy.
