Megyn Kelly sucks. NBC’s attempt to milk the Fox News reject for ratings is turning out even worse than I expected. Her latest show, “Megyn Kelly Today”, received embarrassingly bad reviews from critics. Immediately after the show aired social media erupted with complaints about the robot blond.
“If there was one message that Megyn Kelly sought to impart in the first installment of her new NBC talk show, Megyn Kelly Today, it was this: The old Megyn can’t come to the phone right now,” one critic wrote.
“Kelly, for all her forced bonhomie, is more chilly than chill.”
Kelly has the demeanor of a Stepford wife. Her icicle-like personality wasn’t that much of a turn-off when she was covering serious topics, but it’s grating now that she’s trying to talk about frothy subjects.
The show did, however, manage the to strike the unusual balance of being both insipid and insulting. Kelly didn’t say much, but she did ask a “Will & Grace” fan if watching the show had made him “super gay” before telling the actors themselves that the “gay thing” would work out well for them.
Another critic wrote that watching the mess was like “watching a network try to assemble its own Bride of Frankenstein, using parts of Ellen DeGeneres, Kelly Ripa and whatever else it can find… most of the episode devolved into an intentionally meta hall of mirrors, inviting the audience to admire Kelly as much as Kelly admires Kelly.”
Poor Kelly. She’s already bombed two TV shows this year and it isn’t even October yet.
THE MEGYN KELLY TODAY SHOW: So this is the chick NBC dumped Tamron Hall for? Her show will last about as long as a fart in a windstorm.
