Trump’s performance wasn’t flawless, but he thoroughly wiped the floor with Hillary Clinton during last night’s debate. But there was one topic that Trump was supposedly caught red handed lying about. Well that was just proven to be a lie itself.
During the debate, Lester Holt pressured Trump about his feelings on the Iraq war. More specifically, whether or not he was for or against it. Holt made it seem that Trump was for the war and supported it from the beginning. This was a common occurrence during the whole debate.
Yet when analyzed with a wider lens, and with you know evidence and facts, we find that Holt was completely wrong.
Rather than ask Clinton why she voted for the war, Holt continued to press Trump, saying that in an interview with Fox News’ Neil Cavuto, Trump expressed his support for the war.
After the debate was over, Cavuto aired the interview in question and showed that Trump wasn’t all gung-ho about invading Iraq before we went in — he had his reservations.
“You know, what happened to the days of Douglas MacArthur? I mean he would go in and attack. He wouldn’t talk. I mean we have to, you know, it’s sort of like either do it or don’t do it,” Trump said.
“Well, he’s (Bush) either got to do something or not do something perhaps. Because perhaps he shouldn’t be doing it yet. Perhaps we should be waiting for the United Nations. You know, he’s under a lot of pressure,” said Trump, clearly unsure if invading Iraq was the right choice.
Looks like Holt wasn’t such a middle ground arbitrator after all for this debate. He was clearly out to get Trump and here’s your evidence.
Maybe next debate we should fact check the moderators. Clearly they don’t know what they’re talking about either.
