Rockville Maryland received a prime example of exactly why sanctuary cities are a terrible idea for families. There, a 14-year-old girl who was a high school freshman was the victim of a heinous crime at the hands of an adult illegal immigrant and his friend.
Via Washington Times:
Jose O. Montano, 17, and Henry Sanchez-Milian, 18, are accused of gang raping a 14-year-old classmate at Rockville High School earlier this month.
After the girl rebuffed Mr. Montano’s sexual advances in the hallway, he allegedly forced her into an empty boy’s restroom stall, began undressing her and took turns raping her with Mr. Sanchez-Milian, according to court documents.
Mr. Sanchez-Milian was detained attempting to cross the border in August. A minor at the time, he was given a court date and released, after which he made his way to Montgomery County, Maryland, to live with his father.
CNN’s Brian Stelter condemned Fox News for covering the alleged gang rape of a 14-year-old Maryland high school student by at least one illegal immigrant. According to Stelter, this story is only being covered because of the right’s political agenda.
I have a few problems with this theory. The first of which is that it’s just the nature of news that some stories get more publicity than others. We still probably all remember where we were when the Laci Peterson case broke. Was she the only woman to go missing that year? I’m gonna say no, but a fuss was made, and everyone was more than willing to do their part, or just grieve with her family. No one was saying that she wasn’t important enough to be on the news, or that they just can’t look for them all, so let’s not look for her either.
The second is that he references an assault carried out by a veteran, and this point is very short. The veteran had a legal right to be on that street, his illegal activity began with the stabbing. No one saw that coming, no one could have prevented it. The perpetrator of the crimes against that poor girl in Maryland were done by someone who was already known to the government as a criminal. Had this been a parent that let someone like this into their home and their child was brutally violated, it would probably be considered criminal negligence. The government should at least be held to the same standard.
