President Trump pressed lawmakers on Tuesday to not delay in approving a plan to repeal and replace Obamacare so he can move on to the biggest tax cut since Ronald Reagan’s presidency.
President Trump told top Republican lawmakers at a White House meeting about the new health care legislation:
“There’s going to be no slowing down, no waiting, no more excuses by anybody, we’re going to get it done.”
Here’s some of what Trump has planned for the future of the (un)Affordable Care Act.
The administration is planning major tax cuts by the end of 2017.
“I know exactly what we’re looking at, most of us know exactly the plan,” Mr. Trump said of tax relief. “It’s going to put our country in great shape and we’re going to reduce taxes for companies and for people, and I can use the word again — massively.”
President Trump certainly has found his way into the hearts of the American people. The unrealistic burden that Obamacare put on the backs of hardworking Americans was completely unsustainable model for the long haul.
They Republicans are right, they could have waited around until everyone became acutely aware of just what kind of strain was being put on the economy, and then they would have come crawling back to lawmakers, asking them to fix it. The problem with that is two-fold.
First (and most important) it is just not what’s best for Americans now. In a game of political chess, it would probably have given Republican politicians the chance to rub in everyone’s face just how fatally flawed the Affordable Care Act was, but in the meantime, individuals would be suffering from insufficient coverage.
The second problems is that if lawmakers wait to fix the problems with Obamacare, Americans might be so fed up and desperate to do anything to get some relief, that they might be pushed into accepting some new sort of socialist program to replace it.
Democrats were very much caught off guard by President Trump winning the election and didn’t have the proper contingencies in place. Republicans are taking full advantage of this element of surprise, and fixing all the horrendous anti-constitutional decrees that were implemented by the previous Administration.
