Democrats are going to hate this. If Michael Cohen is hit with serious charges, they won’t stick.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders hinted Monday that if the need arises, there’s a good chance Cohen will be pardoned.
Cohen, President Trump’s personal attorney, is facing legal scrutiny over payments he made to alleged Trump mistresses.
“I don’t think that we are going to talk about hypotheticals that don’t exist right now,” Sanders told reporters Monday, adding that “it’s hard to close the door on something that hasn’t taken place.”
White House legislative director Marc Short went even further.
“I would imagine if he did that (pardon Cohen) there’d be quite an outcry from your network,” he told CNN’s Chris Cuomo.
“There’s no need. There’s no need for that at this point, Chris. I think that the President, of course, all of us are frustrated. We’re very frustrated with the scope of the investigation and the way it’s dragged on.”
Special prosecutor Robert Mueller + former porn star Stormy Daniels = a lot of hassle for Cohen. He was dragged into the mess after Daniels ignored the nondisclosure agreement that she signed and blabbed about her supposed tryst with Trump. Cohen wasted $130,000 trying to convince her to keep her mouth shut.
The liberal media claims Cohen, a longtime friend and associate of Trump’s, is planning to turn on the president to save his own skin.
“Most people will flip if the Government lets them out of trouble, even if it means lying or making up stories,” Trump tweeted in response to a particularly foolish story.
“Sorry, I don’t see Michael doing that despite the horrible Witch Hunt and the dishonest media!”
Liberal pundits also tried to claim that Mueller is on the verge of being fired, another lie that was shot down by the White House.
“As we’ve said many times before, we have no intention of firing the special counsel. We’ve been beyond cooperative with them. We’re continuing to cooperate with them. Turned over nearly a million pages in documents to the special counsel and have been cooperative.”
