Both Houses of Congress, as well as every single person in the White House, have been under extreme scrutiny over issues dealing with Russia. Is there really a security problem? Does the current administration really have inappropriate ties with Putin or any of his minions? The left is pushing hard to find any scrap of evidence to say that President Trump is unfit, and the right and middle just seem to be ready to get government out of this deadlock so they can all get back to running the country.
There has been a huge outrage over House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes’ going straight to the President with confidential information before he went to his own committee to discuss. There is even a call for him to step down from that position. However, Congressman Trey Gowdy thinks that idea is completely ridiculous, and he said as much to Tucker Carlson when asked to comment on the matter.
Via Fox News:
Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., reaffirmed on Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Tuesday that the person who leaked details of then-national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn’s phone calls with Russia’s envoy to the U.S. had broken the law.
“That’s the felonious dissemination of classified material,” Gowdy told host Tucker Carlson. “[House intelligence committee] Chairman [Devin] Nunes’ point is, I want to know whether or not other people have been unmasked, even though you don’t know about it publicly yet.”
Rep. Nunes, a California Republican, has faced calls from Democrats and some Republicans to recuse himself from the House intelligence committee’s investigation of possible ties between Moscow and the Trump campaign. This week, Nunes revealed that he met with a secret source on the White House grounds to review documents related to possible surveillance of Trump team members.
Sadly, it looks as if Democrats on the Hill are just engaged in a witch hunt. If they can ever find a broom to stick Nunes on, they’re going to burn him at the stake, whether he deserves it or not.
