Another juicy incident has occurred that have the propagandists in the left-wing media licking their chops. The ongoing Russian investigation headed by Robert Mueller has still not produced any evidence of wrongdoing on behalf of Trump or his associates. Even still, the fact that there’s an investigation in the first place has provided liberals with a fantastic narrative to undermine the president.
Aiding their Soviet-like efforts of mass persuasion were former Trump advisor Steve Bannon’s harsh words about the administration and what he claimed was some level of collusion early on. Bannon’s since walked back his criticism, but he’s been asked to answer questions about his time with the Trump administration, which he refused.
As reported at the Daily Mail, former Trump chief strategist Steven Bannon refused to answer questions about his time working with the president during House Intelligence Committee hearing, despite being subpoenaed to appear before the panel.
Lawmakers were forced to subpoena Bannon after refusing to cooperate over his time with the Trump transition team and days in the White House.
Left-wing Rep. Adam Schiff of California said Bannon’s silence was “effectively a gag order by the White House.”
“The scope of this assertion of privilege – if that’s what it is – is breathtaking,” Schiff said. “It goes well beyond anything we’ve seen in this investigation.” Typical hyperbole from a leftist desperate to make it appear that there’s something to him and his comrades’ evidence-less claims about Russia and Trump.
Schiff says that the committee plans to bring Bannon back for another round of questioning and his fellow party member, Jim Hines told CNN that if he refuses to cooperate further, Bannon could face contempt charges. One wonders how these stooges can wring their soft little hands over this completely manufactured controversy, yet have nothing to say about the Clinton email ordeal or the anti-Trump corruption in the FBI.
Unfortunately for Bannon, even if he wants to invoke executive privilege, it appears that he won’t have that ability. While leftists are trying to make it appear that Trump silenced Bannon, a White House source told the New York Times that he had not been told to invoke executive privilege or to not cooperate.
Looking ahead, the committee will likely bring Bannon back, so he’s going to have to decide if he’ll cooperate in exchange of making his appearance voluntary, or call their bluff and force them to charge him with contempt. It’s hard to know what avenue he’ll take in light of his split with Trump, but his testimony has the potential to severely damage the president.
