Republicans have their found stride; conservative values are once again dominating the U.S. House Republicans passed a controversial bill favoring gun owners Wednesday, to the dismay of most Democrats.
The measure expands the rights of gun owners with concealed-carry permits. If it passes the Senate as well, permit holders will be able allowed to carry their weapons in any state that allows for concealed-carry.
It’s a gun law that actually makes sense, so of course, the Democrats hate it.
Rep. Elizabeth Esty fumed that the bill would “hamstring law enforcement and allow dangerous criminals to walk around with hidden guns anywhere and at any time. It’s unspeakable that this is Congress’ response to the worst gun tragedies in American history.”
The Second Amendment irks most liberals. They refuse to respect it.
According to Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA’s lobbying division, the reciprocity bill “is the culmination of a 30-year movement recognizing the right of all law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and their loved ones, including when they cross state lines.”
The current law leaves gun owners confused. Many people cross state borders and become unwitting felons because they don’t know that their concealed-carry permit is invalid in the new state.
Clearing up the confusion, and forcing states to recognize each other’s concealed-carry practices, will lead to a safer society.
More and more Americans are expressing an interest in carrying guns. The horrific mass shooting in Las Vegas last October, followed almost immediately by the slaughter in the Texas church, spooked a lot of people. They want to be able to protect themselves.
How about stop the fear mongering & blatant lies? Why shouldn’t a law abiding citizen who is trusted to carry in his/her state not be trusted in another? #ConcealedCarryReciprocity #gunsense
