John McCain just squashed the Senate healthcare bill. Republicans were voted into Washington to repeal Obamacare, but McCain refuses to follow the party line.
“I cannot in good conscience vote for the Graham-Cassidy proposal,” the Arizona senator said Friday.
“I believe we could do better working together, Republicans and Democrats, and have not yet really tried. Nor could I support it without knowing how much it will cost…”
McCain also helped put the kibosh on an earlier version of the healthcare bill. Obamacare is failing. The average American is struggling to pay for his or her coverage. It’s incredibly irresponsible to leave a broken system in place but that’s what a few moderate Republicans seem to be intent on.
If you care about your health, you’re probably becoming pretty concerned. Washington elites can afford to mess around, but the average American family is desperate for relief from Obamacare.
“I take no pleasure in announcing my opposition. Far from it,” McCain continued. “The bill’s authors are my dear friends, and I think the world of them. I know they are acting consistently with their beliefs and sense of what is best for the country. So am I.”
My friendship with @SenJohnMcCain is not based on how he votes but respect for how he’s lived his life and the person he is.
