This entire NFL protest ordeal is really starting to become tiresome. Everything about it is beyond ludicrous, from the players’ juvenile “cause” to the league’s idiotic response to it all. The rebellion should have been squashed weeks ago, but instead, the feckless clowns running the show have allowed the situation to fester, causing fans to lose faith and interest in the once all-powerful league.
Things have gotten so absurd that at the recent NFL game in London, the Jacksonville Jaguars thought it was a good idea to stand during the British national anthem, but take a knee during our anthem–on foreign soil. Just how stupid are these players to not understand the significance of their actions?
As reported at the Sun Herald, in response to the deserved outrage over the team disrespecting America while playing overseas, Jaguars President Mark Lamping is in damage control.
Lamping sent a letter to the director of military affairs and veterans in Jacksonville saying the team was “remiss in not fully comprehending the effect of the national anthem demonstration on foreign soil has had on the men and women who have or continue to serve our country.”
The letter was then forwarded to Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry on Monday and made available for all to read afterward.
Most of the Jaguars players, including owner Shad Khan, locked arms during the anthem on Sept. 24 and about a dozen players took a knee during the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Wembley Stadium in London.
The 3rd grade level smarts these players have were on full display, as they proudly stood to their feet for Britain’s “God Save the Queen” after kneeling down for the American anthem.
“This was an oversight and certainly not intended to send a message that would disparage you, our flag or our nation,” Lamping wrote to Bill Spann, director of Jacksonville’s military affairs and veterans department.
Therein lies one the major problems, Mr. Lamping. That your players are so ignorant of something like this, that it shows they have no clue about what it is they think they’re actually protesting. Yet you let your irrelevant team get away with their little charade anyway, at least, until it started costing you season ticket holders and bad press.
These children need to realize that nobody cares about their protest. Their job is to provide entertainment to millions of Americans while making ridiculous money fighting over a pigskin. They should stick to what they’re good at, which obviously isn’t thinking about basic civic issues.
