2018 is already shaping up to be a banner year for illegal immigrants. A poorly-reasoned bill signed into law by California Gov. Jerry Brown last October is now in effect. The entire state is officially a “sanctuary” for illegals.
“The bill risks the safety of good law enforcement officers and the safety of the neighborhoods that need their protection the most,” Attorney General Jeff Sessions griped last September.
His concerns were ignored. California’s state legislature plunged ahead with their divisive agenda anyway.
“By passing this bill, California politicians have chosen to prioritize politics over public safety… Disturbingly, the legislation serves to codify a dangerous policy that deliberately obstructs our country’s immigration laws and shelters serious criminal alien offenders,” Thomas Homan, acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said.
The bill provides extra protections for the state’s undocumented migrants when they encounter law enforcement. For liberals, deportation is an evil to be avoided at all costs.
The law is, however, an undoubted victory for the left. Democrats are often willing to sacrifice their constituents to further their political agendas.
California politicians often brag about how progressive they are regarding immigration while ignoring the ensuing conflicts yet they still win state elections. Their base is committed to being pro-illegal immigrant, no matter the cost.
“These are uncertain times for undocumented Californians and their families, and this bill strikes a balance that will protect public safety while bringing a measure of comfort to those families who are now living in fear everyday,” Brown said the day he signed the bill.
