Lindsey Graham: A Roy Moore Victory Would Be A Long-Term Win For Democrats

December 15, 2024 by Caleb Marius

In one day the controversial Alabama Senate race will finally be decided. An incredible amount of attention has been given to the race, thanks to the various accusations of sexual abuse against the Republican candidate Roy Moore.

While the GOP did its best to get Moore to drop out, the party finally conceded that it was up to the folks in Alabama to decide what they thought about Moore and the allegations. While the GOP may have gone into spectator mode, for now, prominent Republicans are still making the media rounds claiming that a victory for Moore would be bad for the party.

As reported at the Hill, Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said in a Monday interview that a victory for GOP Senate nominee Roy Moore in Alabama’s special election would be a “gift that keeps on giving for Democrats” in the 2018 midterm elections.

“Roy Moore will be the gift that keeps on giving for Democrats. It will define the 2018 election, at least 2018,” Graham told “CNN Newsroom.” “And to think you can elect Roy Moore without getting the baggage of Roy Moore is pretty native.”

Graham said he wished Moore had dropped out of the race from the get-go, as it would have helped put this issue to bed and not given the media any propaganda to use in the future. But since he didn’t, with even some politicians remaining supportive, Republicans running in 2018 will “be asked about ten thousand times” about Moore Graham opined.

Graham also made it clear that should Moore win on Tuesday, an Ethics Committee investigation would determine if he would keep his seat or be expelled from Congress.

“But there’ll be an Ethics Committee investigation. And if the Ethics Committee in a bipartisan manner supports the allegations of these women, that he, in fact, was a child molester, then my view is that’s inconsistent with being a member of the body,” Graham said in the interview. “But there’ll be due process offered Mr. Moore if he wins.”

If the “due process” Moore receives is anything like what’s been given to him throughout the scandal, then he’ll just be visiting Congress. Graham, and Republicans like him, still labor under the illusion that they can appease or get on the left-wing media’s good side. The reality is that no matter what the GOP does, the Left will always move the goal-posts and find something to trash the party and conservatives about.

No amount of kissing up or caving to their whims is going to suddenly get them to produce honest coverage or stop slandering conservatives. Not only that, they’ll continue concern-trolling the GOP, as they have on issues like sexual harassment while covering up the same crimes within their own group. Buying into the left-wing paradigm is Graham’s first mistake.

Just because the liberal media reports it, it doesn’t make it true. And just because they’re eager to destroy a conservative politician, it doesn’t mean GOPers should rush to help them do it and undermine the very notion of due process. What folks will come to regret, Lindsey is the dangerous precedent that’s been set that allows for a person’s life and image to be destroyed without due process.
