The Obama administration was too timid in its approach to the war on terror. He constricted the military’s actions and let the conflict drag on interminably.
Gold Star father Bill Vaughn lamented Obama’s failures on air with Fox’s Laura Ingraham this week. His son Aaron, a Navy SEAL, was killed in Afghanistan six years ago. His chopper was shot down by the enemy.
“[T]hat night, the AC-130 overhead asking to engage multiple times enemy combatants on the ground was not allowed to engage those enemy combatants with weapons and it’s very likely that one of those enemy combatants took that chopper down that night,” Vaughn told Ingraham.
Vaughn believes that President Trump will save lives. Good soldiers perished because of Obama’s ineptitude. Trump isn’t held back by the same PC concerns that controlled Obama. He trusts the nation’s military commanders.
Breitbart writes: “Under Trump, U.S. forces are no longer required to be in contact with enemy forces before opening fire and fighters on the ground would also have more authority to make decisions…”
Countless soldiers will be protected by the new rules. Obama dressed his restrictions up as human rights considerations, claiming that civilian lives would be saved if the military was less aggressive.
Trump, however, understands that we are at war. Weakness never won over an enemy. Commanders don’t want to innocent people to die, that’s why they’re so committed to their jobs. The best way to ensure that innocent blood isn’t spilled is to stop fighting.
