Since Trump became president, there’s been a rash of fake “hate crime” incidents and false charges of racism. They’ve always been a problem, as anyone can make the un-falsifiable claim, which puts the accused in the position of defending something that never happened, which regardless of guilt, makes them look guilty.
But with the media clamoring that Trump’s a racist and making it “okay” to pick on brown people, incidents that have nothing to do with race are being used by the “victims” to get sympathy and accuse the other party of bigotry. A recent incident in Florida suspiciously fits the left-wing playbook of pulling the race card, and it’s already cost the “guilty” party his job.
As reported at the Daily Mail, a Cuban woman has posted a video of her heated encounter with a UPS clerk in Miami, claiming that he kicked her out of the store for speaking Spanish.
Cuban native Rebecca Prinstein, 47, has been in the US since 1992 and only speaks a little English, but prefers to communicate in Spanish, which is what she did at the Miami UPS store while seeking a $25 refund.”F**king Spanish,” the clerk says in English, before adding in Spanish, “I know how to speak, but you can’t speak English.”
“Why are you talking to me so nasty? Look, I am recording you because of your lack of respect,” the woman tells the clerk in Spanish.
“No, you don’t have respect for anyone, and I am not going to give you any respect,” the clerk responds in Spanish.
Some moments later, the clerk says: “Out of my store. You’re disrupting my business.”
Of course, the woman’s claims are incredibly dubious and the context unknown, as the argument had already begun when the video started. It’s impossible to know if what she claims holds any water, as it’s possible she was upset over not getting her way on the refund she was seeking. Or, it could have been a million other things.
But what makes her believability up for debate is her grandstanding for attention and invoking Trump when interviews by the media.
“[These things] are happening because this president has given free rein to racism in this country,” he told El Nuevo Herald.
“They feel they have the right and the power to do and say anything. There was no reason for this to happen. She simply went there to do a transaction,” said her husband. The husband went so far as to claim the UPS employee confronted him “with a screwdriver in his hand” when he went back into the store after his wife left.
UPS said in a statement that the employee in the video no longer works for the company.
“We value diversity,” the company said in an apology over the incident.
Fernandez said that his wife had been ‘very stressed’ and ‘cries often’ following the incident.
“She’s been feeling bad, doesn’t sleep. At first, she was afraid of going near the store. That guy was very violent,” he said. At this point in the story, there’s no reason to believe anything these opportunists are saying. Get real, and dial back the pearl-clutching if you want people to believe you’re actually a victim. An employee in Miami kicking someone out for speaking Spanish would leave the store without any clientele.
There’s no reason to give these people the benefit of the doubt. The fact that she was filming randomly, and, of course, what was filmed had no context and doesn’t back her claims at all, and the outlandish tripe that was said by her and her husband in the aftermath should send red flags flying. Just a typical incident between store and customer that was conveniently used by the customer to cry racism and get what they wanted in the end–at the expense of a person’s livelihood at that.
