Berkeley, California has turned into a roiling hotbed of liberal dissent. The city which used to pride itself on its peaceful protests is now struggling to maintain order. Leftist fanatics now routinely resort to violence.
Law enforcement is desperate to gain control of the situation. The city just voted to allow officers to use pepper spray to repel violent agitators, reversing a 20-year tradition. Right now a lot of libtards think protesting is fun. I wonder how quickly they’ll start changing their minds when they’re getting pepper sprayed?
According to the New York Post: “The council said pepper spray ‘shall not be used as a crowd control technique to disperse a crowd or move a crowd… Police may use pepper spray upon specific individuals within a crowd who are committing acts of violence upon police or others.”
Multiple conservative speakers are holding rallies in Berkeley over the next few weeks. Organizers expect demonstrators to protest each event. The new law is intended to protect police officers and innocent bystander.
It’s possible that the rioters will be too amped up to be slowed down by pepper spray.
“There are going to be bystanders in that crowd, and let’s face it, the people you’re trying to control come prepared for it. They have gas masks on,” said Joseph Giacalone, a professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and a former New York City police sergeant.
Berkeley police have responded to at least four disturbances involving liberal agitators since February. Some people believe that the violence will only get worse.
