North Korea fired another missile early Wednesday local time.
Kim Jong Un has increased his aggression since President Trump took office. It’s as if the dictator has been made nervous by Trump. Kim has authorized 22 missile launches so far in 2017.
“North Korea fired an unidentified ballistic missile early this morning from Pyongsong, South Pyongan, to the east direction. South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff is analyzing more details of the missile with the US side,” confirmed an official at South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.
War with North Korea is one of the biggest threats facing the U.S. The secretive state has been laden with sanctions and warnings, but they haven’t been enough. Experts believe that North Korea will soon have the ability to launch a nuclear warhead.
“At approximately 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, we detected a probable missile launch from North Korea. We are in the process of assessing the situation and will provide additional details when available,” Pentagon spokesperson Col. Rob Manning commented briefly.
The Obama administration fumbled their chance at resolving the crisis. If President Trump makes the same mistakes, the consequences could be disastrous. Kim’s confidence is increasing.
CNN notes: “The US believes Pyongyang may be able to put a miniaturized warhead on a missile sometime in 2018 — giving it the theoretical capability to launch a missile with a warhead atop that could attack the US.”
A peaceful solution isn’t impossible. Diplomacy is obviously strained, but Trump is the deal maker. His influence might be enough to keep Kim in line.
