Military traitor Bowe Bergdahl is expected to plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy.
Bergdahl’s case is even more disturbing than Chelsea Manning’s. Eight years ago he walked off his post in Afghanistan and marched straight into the Taliban’s arms. Multiple soldiers were injured during the rescue mission. Then-President Obama traded five terrorists for his release.
“Whatever those circumstances may turn out to be, we still get an American soldier back if he’s held in captivity,” Obama said. “Period. Full stop.”
It’s a noble sentiment, but the reality is that five violent extremists were turned loose so we could free a traitor. A lot of Americans hated Obama’s decision.
“We’re tired of Sgt. Bergdahl, who’s a traitor, a no-good traitor, who should have been executed,” President Trump said during his campaign.
Berghdal could be sentenced to life in prison. His decision to plead guilty spares the court from having to give him a trial, but he will still have to face the judge. His sentencing hearing is scheduled later this month.
According to the New York Post: “Some of Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers want him held responsible for any harm suffered by those who went looking for him. The judge ruled a Navy SEAL and an Army National Guard sergeant wouldn’t have found themselves in separate firefights if they hadn’t been searching.”
Bergdahl is the worst kind of traitor.
