President Trump is doing what he does best. Winning. The government shutdown blew up in Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s face. Even liberals know they messed up.
“No doubt the president and his allies are spiking the football after the shutdown. Trump wins again is how one source described it to me,” CNN host and vehement Trump critic Jim Acosta griped Monday.
Get used to it buddy. Trump is our president for a reason. He knows how to get things done. Democrats forced the shutdown in a misguided attempt to protect illegal immigrants only to cave within a few days.
Trump is ecstatic.
“Even Crazy Jim Acosta of Fake News CNN agrees: ‘Trump World and WH sources dancing in end zone: Trump wins again…Schumer and Dems caved…gambled and lost.’ Thank you for your honesty Jim! ” he tweeted.
Democrats already regret Schumer’s decision.
“ I’m disappointed with a conversation that suggests a false choice: You either fund the government or you take care of these DACA kids. We can do both,” Sen. Kamala Harris said. “I don’t believe he made any commitment whatsoever and I think it would be foolhardy to believe he made a commitment.”
President Trump is far more effective than his critics claim. The problems plaguing Washington have little to do with him. The only reason he hasn’t been able to implement 100% of his agenda is because of silly political squabbles. If Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan would step up to the plate and stop undermining the president every turn, Republicans could actually accomplish something.
Republicans and Democrats are bickering over the status of the Dreamers, the group of young migrants protected by Barack Obama before he left office. Democrats want the Dreamers’ special legal status to stay in place, conservatives aren’t as sure.
Democrats just made the first concession, however, by agreeing to push back talks until February.
