Las Vegas shooter Stephen Paddock was armed with a disturbing cache of weapons. The discovery was made after police officers broke into his hotel room.
“Police found about 20 rifles and handguns in the room of the suspected gunman… Some of the weapons were reportedly fully automatic and included AR-15-style and AK-47-style rifles. Two of the guns were reportedly mounted on tripods. Police also found a large stockpile of ammunition,” the Daily Beast writes.
Paddock successfully carried out the worst mass shooting in American history. His perch on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel allowed him to spray into the crowd unmolested. It took authorities multiple minutes just to figure out where he was shooting from.
There’s no way that the tragedy could have been prevented. Paddock had established a relationship with the hotel and frequently received free rooms and meals. The front desk had no problem accommodating his request for a room overlooking the concert venue.
The weapons could easily have been hidden in a suitcase.
