The NFL knee-down crisis has entered its third week, and already, the number of those protesting during the anthem has sharply fallen. Many of those that initially took knees following Trump’s tweets about the issue have decided it’s just not worth it, incurring the wrath of their fans.
While most have given up, there are still a few teams and players holding the line and still kneeling for the anthem. And it just so happens that on Sunday, the Vice President was attending a game between his home-state Colts and the team with the most protesters, the San Francisco 49ers.
As reported at Fox News, as the anthem played in Indianapolis on Sunday, around 20 players on the visiting 49ers team knelt down in protest. In response to the disgusting disrespect for our flag, Vice President Pence left his seat and left the arena before seeing a single down played.
After walking out in his own protest, Pence took to Twitter to explain himself. “I left today’s Colts game because @POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem,” he tweeted.
But Pence had even more to say, “At a time when so many Americans are inspiring our nation with their courage, resolve, and resilience…now, more than ever, we should rally around our Flag and everything that unites us…While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I don’t think it’s too much to ask NFL players to respect the Flag and our National Anthem stand with @POTUS Trump, I stand with our soldiers, and I will always stand for our Flag and our National Anthem.”
President Donald Trump later tweeted, “I asked @VP Pence to leave stadium if any players kneeled, disrespecting our country. I am proud of him and @SecondLady Karen.”
Predictably, the left-wing media is trashing the VP. Saying that it was he that mocked the flag and made the anthem a PR stunt. Isn’t it funny that liberal clowns talk about how important the right to protest is, for people to do what they feel is right, then turn around and slander a guy for doing just that. It’s not a PR stunt when players do it on the field, but for a guy to quietly leave his seat in response to their actions, it’s suddenly an affront to the nation.
This is the kind of double standard that makes up the foundation of the Left’s “logic.” It’s okay for me but not for thee. The good news is that despite their Soviet-level propaganda efforts, the American people aren’t buying their narrative on the NFL protests. Imagine that, folks just don’t seem to like liberal politics polluting the sports that are supposed to be a getaway from all the political insanity and monotony of everyday life.
