Is Rex Tillerson thinking about resigning?
Rumors are swirling that Secretary of State is at the end of his rope. Liberal media pundits began gleefully predicting that he would quit months ago. The Trump White House has been plagued by high-profile departures; Tillerson’s removal would be devastating.
On Wednesday morning Tillerson addressed the rumors.
“My commitment to the success of our president and our country is as strong as it was the day I accepted his offer to serve as secretary of state. President Trump’s America-first agenda has given voice to millions who felt completely abandoned by the political status quo and who felt their interests came second to those of other countries,” Tillerson told reporters.
“The vice president has never had to persuade me to remain secretary of state because I had never threatened to leave this post.”
There you have it, in his own words. Tillerson’s sticking around. The liberal “scoop” about his resignation turns out to be another flagrant example of fake news. Today’s journalists are willing to report flimsy, baseless stories.
Tillerson has no plan to abandon his post. He’s fourth in line to the presidency. He knew what the job entailed before he agreed to do it; he’s not going to give up within months.
