Stormy Daniels has filed yet another lawsuit against President Trump. The porn star is accusing Trump of defamation.<\/p>\n
Daniels allegedly had an affair with Trump 12 years ago. She claims that a thug working for Trump threatened her in a Las Vegas parking lot and tried to intimidate her into keeping her mouth shut.<\/p>\n
Trump cast doubt on her story, which brings us to Monday\u2019s lawsuit.<\/p>\n
\u201cA sketch years later about a nonexistent man. A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)!\u201d Trump tweeted earlier this month after Team Daniels released a sketch of the man who supposedly cornered her.<\/p>\n
The lawsuit hinges on those words.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe intend on teaching Mr. Trump that you cannot simply make things up about someone and disseminate them without serious consequences,\u201d Daniels\u2019 attorney, Michael Avenatti, said.<\/p>\n
Daniels, Avenatti, and Trump are entangled in an intense legal battle. Daniels convinced President Trump\u2019s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, to pay her $130,000 to keep quiet about the alleged affair. Cohen ponied up but Daniels neglected to keep up her part of the deal.<\/p>\n
Cohen\u2019s now being investigated by the FBI because of the money he paid Daniels.<\/p>\n
Daniels and Avenatti are devoting their time toward keeping the scandal in the public\u2019s eye. Avenatti seems to be a master at manipulating the media, the ordeal has turned him into a star. The lawyer is now fielding TV offers.<\/p>\n
\u201cRegardless of who you are or what position you hold, you are not permitted to fabricate statements in an effort to deceive people. There are consequences for doing that,\u201d Avenatti said.<\/p>\n
Trump denies both the affair with Daniels and knowledge about the payment Cohen made.<\/p>\n
“I’ve had conversations with the president about this,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in March.<\/p>\n
“And as I outlined earlier, that this case had already been won in arbitration, and that there was no knowledge of any payments from the president and he’s denied all of these allegations.”<\/p>\n
