Vanessa Trump and Donald Trump Jr.’s are divorcing. Friends say that the marriage dissolved because he’s too cheap.
Sources claim that Vanessa’s outwardly privileged life is less wonderful than it seems. Don Jr. is stingy with his wealth and treats her “like a second-class citizen.
You would expect anyone bearing the name Donald Trump Jr. to lead an opulent lifestyle. Vanessa friends, however, claim that he’s too tight-fisted to enjoy his wealth.
“He gives her very little help and has been keeping her on a tight budget. She doesn’t live a lavish life and can very rarely pick up a check at dinner,” a source told Page Six.
Another source added: “Don Jr. was never generous with money. Vanessa has had to rely on her mother for financial help for her personal needs.”
The couple has always played nice for the camera. Until their divorce was announced, there were no hints of trouble.
Vanessa’s team insists that the rumors aren’t true.
“All of these claims are simply not true. Don and Vanessa have tremendous respect for each other and always have. The notion that she has had to rely on her family for assistance is absolutely false and utterly ridiculous,” her spokesperson said.
Multiple sources, however, contradict the official statement. Some friends told Page Six that the couple started having serious problems in 2005.
“They were having problems before they even got married. People were telling her not to marry him before the wedding,” a source said. “She was interviewing divorce lawyers before [Trump’s presidency]. No one thought he’d win. He won and she decided to stay until his term is over. But she just couldn’t stand it anymore.
Don and Vanessa’s struggles come amid a time of turmoil for the Trump family. President Trump is being harassed by multiple scandals while Ivanka Trump and her husband are facing scrutiny over their finances and their role in the 2016 campaign
Still, Vanessa’s spokesperson said that the couple’s split has nothing to do with Washington, D.C.
“Decisions that she and Don have made on their marriage have nothing to do with politics,” she said.
