Twitter Is Suing The U.S. Government For The Stupidest Reason Imaginable

December 14, 2024 by Savannah Pointer

President Trump’s favorite social media is returning his love by breaking his heart. They’re suing the U.S. government because they were asked to give up the personal information of a user who is an outspoken critic of Trump’s immigration policies who claims to be a federal immigration employee.

Twitter filed the lawsuit Thursday, saying, “The rights of free speech afforded Twitter’s users and Twitter itself under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution include a right to disseminate such anonymous or pseudonymous political speech.”

The ever concerned ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has taken up the case for Twitter, saying “We have seen no reason the government has given for seeking to unmask this speaker’s identity,” according to ACLU attorney Esha Bhandari.

The targeted account tweeted the section in the lawsuit which referenced the government’s stated reason for wanting the private information from Twitter:

They’ve posted other uplifting tweets such as:

Obviously, there is a self-righteous liberal hiding behind a keyboard, taking pot shots at President Trump and the laws that keep him safe. This is apparently not one of the thousands who have been a victim of violent crime carried about by an illegal immigrant. It’s not someone who has any respect for elected officials or any government authority but ironically is a government employee. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Not just the hand of the US economy, overburdened by those that come here for a free ride, but the actual department that signs his paycheck.

Yes, the first amendment protects your rights to free speech. It does not, however, protect your right to be employed by an agency you speak out against or ensure your access to sensitive information that might be used in a way that jeopardizes national security. You have the right to speak, you don’t have the right to an exception from the social consequences of those actions.
