A Mexican illegal immigrant scammed the government out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. Lax border security allowed the man to clamber back into the states multiple times after being deported.
Andres Avelino Anduaga, born in Tijuana, stole an American citizen’s identity and became Abraham Riojos, born in Texas. He used fraudulent documents to obtain a driver’s license and Social Security number.
Anduaga’s scam ended up costing taxpayers $360,000. Investigators eventually discovered that he had a long rap sheet and at least 21 different aliases.
”The programs that this defendant stole from – for decades – provide benefits to America’s most needy. This prosecution demonstrates the commitment of the United States Attorney’s Office to protecting the integrity of our welfare programs and punishing those who prey on the goodwill of our nation and its taxpayers,” U.S Attorney Adam Braverman said.
In addition to lying about his identity, Anduaga committed a host of other crimes while he was in the U.S.
That’s the man who Democrats are so eager to protect. Sanctuary cities explicitly state that their goal is to shield “non-violent” illegals like Anduaga. If the country had stricter border laws, he wouldn’t have been able to continue his scam for so long.
According to the Daily Mail, Anduaga “received monthly payments – $244,441 total – until Aug. 1, 2016, according to his plea agreement. He also qualified for Medi-Cal benefits and payments and received $112,981 total. In addition, he illegally received more than $3,486 in food stamps…”
A lot of hardworking American families struggled to provide for themselves while President Obama was in office. Money from their paychecks was spent on housing and feeding Anduaga, a criminal illegal who repeatedly disrespected our laws.
“The Social Security Administration’s Office of the Inspector General is committed to pursuing those individuals who violate the public trust wherever they may be found,” Robb Stickley of the Social Security Administration’s Office of the Inspector General said.
“We will continue to uphold the integrity of the Supplemental Security Income program and other federal and state needs-based assistance programs that are a lifeline for so many Americans and their families.”
