Nikki Haley is President Trump’s newly minted US ambassador to the UN, and I think she’s a keeper. Haley began her first address to the UN press core assuring them that if they would cooperate, this could be the beginning of a respectful, symbiotic relationship between herself and the press.
That, however, was the beginning and end of the touchy-feely portion of the program. Haley left no one within earshot with any doubts about the United State’s support of Israel, and she shamed the Security Council for its blatant bias toward the Palestinians and against, citing it as being the only stable democracy in the region.
Instead of fulfilling their job description, which is to find a means of maintaining international peace and security, here’s how she said the meeting went:
According to Right Wing News,
“No, instead the meeting focused on criticizing Israel, the one true democracy in the Middle East.
I am new around here, but I understand that’s how the Council has operated month after month for decades. I am here to say the United States will not turn a blind eye to this anymore. I am here to underscore to the ironclad support of the United States for Israel. I am here to emphasize that the United States is determined to stand up to the U.N.’s anti-Israel bias.”
If Nikki Haley’s comments taught us anything, it’s that the UN does NOT have our back or that of any other country that it doesn’t think will be easy to manipulate.
I, for one, am extremely grateful that the President has put in the position of UN ambassador someone who will throw open the shades and shed some light on what is happening at the UN and accurately report that to the American people.
