House lawyer President Trump’s legal team is being shaken up again. White House lawyer Ty Cobb plans to leave his post.
“I’ve done what I come to do in terms of managing the White House response to the special counsel request,” Cobb told CNN. “I’m extremely grateful to the President and Chief Kelly for the opportunity to serve my country.”
Cobb is going to be replaced by Emmet Flood, the attorney who represented Bill Clinton during his impeachment scandal. It’s a sign that the administration is changing its tactics. Cobb disagreed with Trump’s approach.
Trump is focused on ending special prosecutor Robert Mueller’s investigation. Democrats are using the probe as an excuse to tarnish Trump’s reputation and cast doubt on the legitimacy of his presidency.
Cobb recommended complying completely with all of Mueller’s requests, whether they were justified or not. Flood is stepping into a difficult position. He’s not the only recent addition to Trump’s legal team, however. Last month Rudy Giuliani joined the team.
The battle against special prosecutor Robert Mueller is drawing to a close. Trump has hinted that he’s willing to meet with Mueller for an interview.
Cobb’s exit was predicted a long time ago. He didn’t handle the Mueller the investigation very well. He wasn’t able to resolve anything.
“Emmet Flood will be joining the White House Staff to represent the President and the administration against the Russia witch hunt,” White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement.
“Ty Cobb, a friend of the President, who has done a terrific job, will be retiring at the end of the month.”
The Russia investigation has turned into a sideshow. The original accusations against Trump are completely unfounded. Yet, the probe is still going forth.
Trump is tired of being investigated for no reason.
