The Trump administration is poised to tackle another controversial issue in the wake of the tax reform battle and the decision to move the United States’ Israeli embassy to Jerusalem.
Trump has shown a willingness to wade into sinister waters, and there’s no mistaking that the next battle his Department of Justice will embark on will have the Left fighting back in full force.
As reported at the New York Post, the DoJ has decided to launch an investigation into the abortion factory that is Planned Parenthood, over their practices of selling fetal tissue.
Justice Department Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs Stephen Boyd officially requested unredacted documents from the Senate Judiciary Committee, the same panel that led the congressional probe into the women’s health organization.
“The Department of Justice appreciates the offer of assistance in obtaining these materials, and would like to request the Committee provide unredacted copies of records contained in the report, in order to further the Department’s ability to conduct a thorough and comprehensive assessment of that report based on the full range of information available,” Boyd wrote.
Reportedly, Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said they needed to receive a letter and be assured that the documents would be used for investigative purposes.
On Thursday, that letter was sent to both of them, which is a rare admission by the DoJ that a federal investigation is, in fact, underway.
“At this point, the records are intended for investigative use only—we understand that a resolution from the Senate may be required if the Department were to use any of the unredacted materials in a formal legal proceeding, such as a grand jury,” Boyd also wrote.
The committee published their findings in a report in December 2016, and it concluded that there’s ample evidence that Planned Parenthood transferred fetal tissue and body parts from aborted fetuses for research by charging amounts higher than they actually cost.
“The report documents the failure of the Department of Justice, across multiple administrations, to enforce the law that bans the buying and selling of human fetal tissue,” Grassley wrote last December urging the Justice Department and FBI to investigate. “It also documents substantial evidence suggesting that the specific entities involved in the recent controversy, and/or individuals employed by those entities, may have violated that law.”
Two years ago, conservative activists engaged in an undercover operation where they met with Planned Parenthood officials and discussed the obscene practice. The media went berserk over the videos, doing everything possible to divert attention to the activists and away from the disgusting revelations.
But in the videos, it was clear as day that the employees admitted to various illegal practices, going so far as to brag about how good they were at slicing up the fetuses to extract the most pristine tissue possible, which in turn would fetch high prices.
In the aftermath of the videos, it wasn’t Planned Parenthood that suffered any consequences, but the activists. Justice is long overdue in the disgusting case of the organization dealing in the body parts of slain babies. Hopefully, the DoJ will finally investigate the issue properly, and finally, hold the group to account for its litany of crimes.
