Looks like the repealing of the most backward and failed healthcare system to ever be enacted in America will begin to be repealed and stripped this January according to a reports.
The Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare, has largely been classified by the majority of the country as a colossal failure. But a huge question in this election is exactly how Donald Trump would repeal it if he won the election. Well he won, and it looks like the Obamacare repeal is starting in January.
Trump was the catalyst, but Republicans are running with it.
Republicans on Capitol Hill are growing confident that they can begin to repeal Obamacare once President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in, along with a pledge to replace it later.
“We have an Obamacare emergency right now,” said Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), the chairman of the Senate HELP Committee. “I think we could move forward in January on some aspects of repeal but we need to make sure that we are helping people and that we do no harm.”
Well considering the harm it’s done to people having to choose between healthcare for their families or putting food on the table, I’m pretty certain that you’ll be doing more good than harm.
Republicans say repeal efforts will start in January. They are considering whether to swiftly repeal the biggest pieces of the law through a complex budget process called reconciliation that Democrats cannot block. If they go that route, Republicans would likely pass the repeal — but delay the effective date for a year or two until a replacement could theoretically be enacted. That would shield the GOP from an immediate backlash from taking away insurance. They are even considering passing the bill through Congress in early January so that Trump could have it on his desk within minutes of swearing the oath of office.
ADVERTISINGAlternatively, they might start by repealing some smaller but deeply unpopular parts of the law, such as the individual mandate.
“I don’t think we should take a lot of time,” said Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. “We understand what the problems are and we know that Obamacare is a destructive force in America and almost everybody admits it.”
“It doesn’t work, it’s costing too much money, it isn’t evolving into better health care and we have to do something to straighten it out,” Hatch added.
Ah yes, but you’ll no doubt hear Democrats saying that it helped all Americans. That’s totally true, right? Super, super wrong.
According to Washington Free Beacon:
About one-third of adults in the U.S., or 33 percent, went without recommended health care due to expensive costs, according to a Commonwealth Fund survey.
The survey found adults in the United States were far more likely than adults in other countries to go without recommended care such as foregoing doctor visits when sick and failing to fill prescriptions because of costs. In the U.K. and Germany, 7 percent of adults faced cost problems.
Low-income adults found it difficult to afford care. Forty-three percent of low-income adults in the United States said they went without care due to affordability, which was the highest rate of any country surveyed.
“Relative to other countries, the health care system in the United States appears to perform poorly in meeting several population health goals,” the report states. “Out-of-pocket spending is an important barrier to care in the United States, reducing access to services.”
Oh yes Obamacare solved all our problems! Praise Obama! Yea right.
Let’s hope this gets solved soon. American pockets and livelihoods depend on it.
