Over the past year, the fatso dictator of North Korea Kim Jong-Un has been doing his best to provoke President Trump. It’s not surprising that Kim has been trying to feel out the newest US president, but it’s how ridiculously aggressive and unhinged the tyrant has gotten.
Rather than make himself look tough and discourage the US from intervening, he’s constantly miscalculating and edging us closer to war. A war that he will undoubtedly be the loser of. Even so, the hefty despot is determined not to back down in the face of Trump, even though it’s obvious to anyone paying attention that Trump isn’t the kind of guy you mess with.
As reported at the New York Post, on Tuesday, Trump escalated his feud with Kim by imposing new sanctions on his murderous regime. North Korean shipping firms and Chinese trading companies are the targets this time, as they’ve been cut off from doing business with the rogue nation. This is the latest in a series of economic sanctions aimed at slowly starving the barely functioning North Korean economy until Kim comes to the negotiating table.
The sanctions are in response to the regime’s continued nuclear efforts, which are aimed at miniaturizing a warhead and perfecting their ballistic missile technology so they can effectively keep the US off their doorstep.
A day after the US put the nation back on the list of state sponsors of terrorism, the Treasury Department also went after a North Korean company involved in exporting workers overseas.
“These designations include companies that have engaged in trade with North Korea cumulatively worth hundreds of millions of dollars,” Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.
Trump has publicly insulted the North Korean leader on Twitter several times, and proven he’s not going to back down in the face of the dough-boy’s threats. Past presidents have allowed the North Korean menace to not only acquire nuclear weapons, but significantly develop the technology to effectively deliver them. They’ve been content to let them stir up trouble in their region, so long as they don’t get too crazy.
But Trump has shown the fortitude and willingness to actually tackle the festering problem, something that shouldn’t be kicked down the road any longer. How he plans to go about it is anyone’s guess, but if there’s a president that’s going get the job done, it’s Trump.
