Unlike his predecessor, President Trump hasn’t wielded the significant power of the Justice Department. During Obama’s presidency, he weaponized the agency, using it to discriminate against conservatives and ensure his left-wing agenda was enforced across the country.
With the first year of Trump’s presidency about in the books, many of his supporters are wondering when he’ll begin maximizing the mandate that was granted to him in November 2016 by utilizing the important agency. On Thursday, the president provided a much-needed reminder about what his electoral victory means when it comes to the DoJ.
As reported at the New York Post, during a recent interview with the left-wing New York Times, President Trump was asked a lot of pointed questions, including if he plans on keeping his campaign promise and re-opening the inquiry into Hillary Clinton’s emails.
He gave a direct and serious response saying, “I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department,” Trump said. He then moved away from Hillary and began discussing the special investigation that’s currently looking into his administration’s ties to Russia.
“But for purposes of hopefully thinking I’m going to be treated fairly, I’ve stayed uninvolved with this particular matter,” Trump said. He then mentions the infamous liberal lawyer Alan Dershowitz, who recently claimed that the investigation into Trump is a witch hunt initiated by pro-Hillary, anti-Trump elements in the FBI.
“I watched Alan Dershowitz the other day,” Trump continued. “He said, No. 1, there is no collusion, No. 2, collusion is not a crime, but even if it was a crime, there was no collusion.”
Trump also said that the ongoing, fruitless investigation makes the US “look very bad,” but he believed Special Counsel Robert Mueller is “going to be fair” in his inquiry.
Every week, the media reports how “close” Mueller is getting to proving the Trump administration “colluded” with Russia, but they’ve been singing that song for months now. Mueller can’t get close to something that doesn’t exist, but on the contrary, we are discovering how disgustingly corrupt the FBI is and how infested it’s become with left-wing activists that care more about their ideology than the law.
