Ratings for this year’s Academy Awards stunk- and President Trump knows why.
“Lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY. Problem is, we don’t have Stars anymore – except your President (just kidding, of course)!,” Trump tweeted.
Hollywood has been rocked by scandal in the past few months. Golden boys have been exposed and perverts and monsters. Instead of being humbled by the experience, Tinseltown stars have become more vocal than ever.
Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel inserted politics into his routine. He implied that President Trump was racist and insulted Vice President Mike Pence. That’s why people are losing interest in Hollywood, no one wants to think about politics when they’re watching a glitzy awards show.
“Jordan [Peele] is only the third person in 90 years to be nominated for directing, writing and best picture for his debut film. And what a debut it was. None other than President Trump called ‘Get Out’ the best first three-quarters of a movie this year,” Kimmel joked.
Before the night was over, he also attacked Pence.
“Out of the nine best picture nominees, only two made more than $100 million. That’s not the point. We don’t make films like ‘Call Me By Your Name’ for money. We make them to upset Mike Pence,” he laughed.
Kimmel wasn’t the only one who turned political. A few actresses babbled about illegal immigration during their acceptance speeches.
The 2018 Academy Awards were watched by 26.5 million people. The number sounds impressive until you learn that it’s the smallest amount of viewers in the show’s entire history. Ratings plunged a whopping 19 percent just from last year.
“The Tinseltown elite genuinely hate the people they expect will pay to see their movies and watch their TV shows,” Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor told Fox News. “Why do we support them?”
