As the fighting in the Middle East is ramped up by Russian forces led by Vladimir Putin, Obama still fails to lead in the region, despite having more firepower at his disposal than any country on Earth.
Thankfully, top military officials decided to take the fight to ISIS in such a way that they won’t soon forget, in the heaviest battle that they’ve seen yet. Not only is this great news for eliminating the scourge that is radical Islam, but it makes America safer, one strike at a time.
TIME reports,
U.S. led airstrikes this week killed 180 ISIS fighters in the heaviest fighting seen in northern Iraq this year.
Brig. Gen. Mark Odom, the top U.S. military official in northern Iraq, said the U.S. and allies launched 17 hours of airstrikes after an ISIS assault against Kurdish position around Mosul, the Washington Post reports.
According to the Post, at between seven and 18 Kurdish fighters were killed. Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter said the fight shows the effectiveness of the Kurdish fighters against ISIS when they’re backed by air support.
“This was the hardest punch ISIL had thrown since this summer, and the peshmerga defeated them,” Col. Steve Warren, a U.S. military spokesman, said.
No matter what Obama says, you can’t stop good people from doing good things. I support our service men and women for their dedication in this troubling matter, and it’s only a matter of time before ISIS is nothing but a distant memory.
