When it comes to news stories or incidents that make the Left look bad, or simply conflict with their bogus narratives, the media’s very adept at burying stories and disappearing them down the memory hole.
One of those stories is the completely forgotten about the shooting that occurred last June at a Republican softball practice, ahead of a match between both party’s lawmakers. GOP House Majority Whip Steve Scalise was injured in the shooting, suffering near-fatal wounds.
As reported at the New York Post, Scalise announced on Wednesday that he’ll be undergoing another surgery as part of his ongoing recovery. He added that the surgery had been planned for a month.
“I have been fortunate to make tremendous progress in my healing from last June’s shooting, and tomorrow I will undergo a planned surgery as part of my ongoing recovery process,” the Louisiana congressman said.
“I appreciate all of the continued prayers as I move forward with my recovery, and I continue to be thankful for the dedicated care I am receiving from my medical team,” the 51-year-old added in a statement.
“I will remain fully engaged in my work as I heal from this procedure, and I look forward to returning to the Capitol as soon as I can within the coming weeks.”
The attack was carried out by 66-year-old whack-job James Hodgkinson, who was thankfully unsuccessful in his attempt at killing Republicans. Capitol Hill police responded swiftly, killing him before he was able to get his rampage going.
Scalise was shot in the hip, which one might not think would be life-threatening. But the bullet did incredible damage, tearing up his blood vessels, bones, and internal organs, which nearly cost him his life. He’s since recovered enough to continue his work in Congress, but as this latest surgery implies, he still has a long journey before he’s fully healed.
Since the shooting was carried out by a disgruntled leftist, the media quickly covered it and threw it down the memory hole, despite the fact that sitting members of Congress were nearly massacred. One can only guess what the coverage would have been like if a right-winger had attacked a group of Democratic lawmakers.
Politics aside, hopefully, Scalise’s surgery is a success, and he can continue moving on from the harrowing experience.
