Roy Moore is in trouble. Steve Bannon, one of his staunchest defenders, is considering throwing him over. The evidence against Moore is too strong to be dismissed. He carried on illicit, sexually abusive relationships with multiple underage girls.
Moore is still stubbornly clinging to his campaign. It would be more becoming if he would bow out gracefully, but he seems to be digging in his heels instead. It’s insane to claim that all five of his accusers are lying, but that’s what Moore wants people to believe.
At first, Bannon clearly supported the Alabama judge.
“This is just another desperate attempt by Mitch McConnell to keep power, and it’s not going to work,” Bannon said on Monday. “You know, people in Alabama see through this. The good folks of Alabama are going to be able to weigh and measure this… This is an orchestrated hit from the Uniparty.”
Sources now say, however, that Bannon has revised his position. “Several of Bannon’s most trusted allies… have also warned that the time is rapidly approaching when he would have to disavow Moore before it appeared as though he was simply caving to political pressure…”
Moore’s support network is getting smaller and smaller. It’s nearly impossible for a serious person to believe in him. Pedophiles are considered to be among the worst people in society. Those who are still standing behind him look like they’re deluded.
Next month’s election is eagerly anticipated. If Moore remains in the race, it’ll reflect very badly on Republicans.
