The news just keeps getting worse for Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, as his last remaining supporters have jumped ship from his trainwreck of a campaign. His latest accuser has the most harrowing claim of abuse thus far, and media’s coverage of the ordeal has ensured he suffers maximum damage for it.
Now that we’re a month away from the special election, it’s do or die time for Moore, as he needs to either offer up a thoughtful and convincing explanation or drop out altogether. Which is exactly what his most fervent supporter said Tuesday night.
As reported at the Washington Times, Fox News host Sean Hannity, who’s been a target of left-wing boycotts overs his comments questioning Moore’s accusers, has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to the candidate–explain yourself or drop out.
During the Tuesday night edition of his show “Hannity,” he played numerous audio clips from his radio show interview with Moore, where he asked him several times whether he had, as a man in his 30s, engaged in sexual misconduct against teenagers.
Moore danced around and gave several non-definitive denials, including that he dated no girl without her mother’s permission and that dating teens wasn’t his usual practice. The lack of clarity has caused Hannity to stop giving Moore the benefit of the doubt, unless he definitively explains himself.
“For me, the judge has 24 hours. You must immediately and fully come up with a satisfactory explanation for your inconsistencies. … You must remove any doubt,” Hannity said. “If you can’t do this, then Judge Moore needs to get out of this race,” he concluded.
Hannity has been the most prominent holdout supporter of Moore, as he’s one of the few to even question the credibility of the allegations. However, even he has a limit to what he’ll tolerate, as Moore hasn’t addressed the issue in a way that makes it easy to believe him.
